Wide smiling eyes,
of children who know no grief or sorrow.
Dancing curious eyes,
of little babies exploring their world.
Wild imaginative eyes,
of a boy who discovered something extraordinary.
Blank staring eyes,
of a girl trying to hide the pain of her mother's words.
Scared, hopeless eyes,
of a young man facing a life he knows he can never survive.
Lonely tear-filled eyes,
of a young lady who knows her first taste of bittersweet love.
Joyful, sparkling eyes,
of a new mother holding her precious child.
Sad, grieving eyes,
of a woman whose heart has finally broken in two by a shattered dream.
Fretful, haunted eyes,
of the man who left her for the stuff that eases his pain.
Mean, brooding eyes,
of his son when he sees his father one last time lying in a coffin.
Old, tired eyes,
of an old woman ready to go home, away from this life.
Peaceful, sleepy eyes,
that close with finality and grace, never to open again.
Very nice poem! Sad, tired, blank (of someone who's given up) grieving, they all describe me (my "eyes") perfectly.
Wonderful! This poem is thought-provoking and so full of emotion. I really like this.
This is nice!
I totally agree with Raven. So, emotional.
